Honfleur est une commune portuaire normande (département du Calvados) située sur la rive sud de l'estuaire de la Seine, en face du Havre, tout près du débouché du Pont de Normandie. Ses habitants sont les Honfleurais.
Elle est surtout connue pour son vieux port pittoresque, caractérisé par ses maisons aux façades recouvertes d'ardoises, et pour avoir été maintes fois représentée par des artistes, dont notamment Gustave Courbet, Eugène Boudin, Claude Monet et Johan Barthold Jongkind, formant l'École de Honfleur qui contribua à l'apparition du mouvement impressionniste. L'église Sainte-Catherine, qui possède un clocher séparé de l'édifice principal, est la plus grande église en bois de France.

It is especially known for its old, beautiful picturesque port, characterized by its houses with slate-covered frontages, painted many times by artists, including in particular Gustave Courbet, Claude Monet and Johan Jongkind, forming the école de Honfleur which contributed to the appearance of the Impressionist movement .
